Karen Birmingham: 2015 Reserve Zinfandel - Lodi
Here is the 4th wine that I have chosen to drink from the box. Wines have been good so far and looking forward to this one.

Lodi, California is a region that is about 30 to 35 miles southeast of Napa County.
I would not at all consider myself to be knowable on wines. I can sum up the majority of my knowledge in two lines:
- There are red wines and there white wines and,
- I prefer red wines.

In reality, the other aspect of wines that I have realized is so much of a wine comes down to personal preference. The best thing you can do is try a wine for yourself and determine whether it is a wine you like or not.
Brendan's Review
Look: The wine looks to have a full body consistency on par with most average red wines. It is deep red/dark purple in color. Light does not come through the glass even when held up. The bottle is nice and classy. The label looks nice. The label has some information about the location of the vineyard, but none about the wine in the bottle.
Smell: The smell is surprisingly not as fruity as i would have expected. The smell is part nature and part metallic.
Taste: It has a nice taste. I expected a heavier taste only because of the odd metallic smell. There is a general berry taste that I cannot discern.

A red zinfandel wine is not a go to wine for me which also means I do not have many wines to compare this too. This would be a good wine for drinking during a meal, possibly a red meat dish.
- Average to above average looks, due to the nice label on the bottle.
- Below average smell. I did not like the metallic smell.
- Average taste. This could be that I just have a preference for other types of wines. There was not anything wrong with this flavor, but there also was not anything special with the flavor.
